How to find us

Browne’s Hospital is about 10 minutes walk from Stamford Bus Station or 15 minutes walk across the Meadows from Stamford Railway Station. There is very limited timed parking in Broad Street otherwise there are a number of car parks within 10 - 15 minutes walk

Visiting

We are open on Bank Holidays in 2026 from 11.30 to 15.30 and Saturdays from the beginning of June to the end of September from 11.30-15.30 EXCEPT July 11 when the Museum will be closed for a private event and the final afternoon: September 26 . The Museum will close at 13.00.

Event

Margaret Beaufort - a talk by Lauren Johnson on her new book. Booking will be available from Stamford Arts Centre and tickets are £10.00. Lauren published her book in 2025. Margaret lived nearby at Collyweston Palace and was friends with William and Margaret Browne. The talk will be at 14.30.

Please email the Curator for group bookings (minimum 4 people) which are available throughout the year subject to the availability of volunteer guides. The cost is £5 a head. The Hospital does not have an office and the telephone number 07721 343618 is the Curator's private number at home. Please leave a message if he is not available or make an enquiry via curator@browneshospital.co.uk. This is not monitored daily so please check well in advance.

Accessibility

There is a flight of stone steps from Broad Street and a steep flight of stone steps (with handrail) to the Audit Room.
